This is the first RO Lane book that I've read that included a story line involving the ongoing rape of a main character. Maybe I've just been lucky with the books I've read by this author.Rape may be a fact of life in this debased society but I read to be entertained. To escape real life. As a Christian and a gentleman, I just don't find it enjoyable to read about the traumatization of a female's pysche in that way.Is it really any different if we are talking about a story of a very young boy being repeatedly defiled by a pedofile? A crazy man engaging in sex with his horse? They are ALL disgusting acts that really do happen in this lost world but I personally don't want to think about it in my precious free time.I'm done with this author and that saddens me. I thought he was a different kind of author - they are so rare.By that, I mean there are very few men that can write a truly wholesome story that is also a love story - with just a TOUCH of Western violence to keep it real and not childish.Call me naive but I trusted him to create for me a fantasy world of what our reality could be without revealing the harsh reality of true evil...even when it is set in a very violent and ugly period of the past.
